I used to live in Florida for a long time but I live in the north now, and I still have fond memories of Waffle House. It’s the only thing I miss about Florida.

How was the first strike legal? A military attack against unarmed civilians is a war crime and a violation of longstanding international law.

Many years ago when I was a tech guy at Cornell I applied for a job as arXiv administrator. The interview process was pretty interesting but I did not get the job. Which, in hindsight, seems fortunate!

I’m reading A Maggot by John Fowles. This is a very, very strange book but I am really getting into the slowly unfolding mystery of it. (Note: it’s not actually about maggots)

This play is also a satire of fascism and so it turns out to be unexpectedly relevant to what is going on in our country right now.

I went to a performance at Hamilton College of “Ubu Roar,” a new adaptation by Brenda Withers of the classic surrealist play “Ubu Roi” by Alfred Jarry. It was wild and bizarre and I loved it. The student actors all did a terrific job.
