Your brain lacks dopamine but that means you are highly easy to motivate once you find the tricks that work. Associate unpleasant tasks with fun rewards. Use external obligations to hold to deadlines. Don’t hold what you think “normal routine” should look like as a measure of success.

Everyone has something they can do, even if that is just continuing to exist despite the chaos going on. Tell your conscience that the FOMO can take a hike for a bit. 😉

Yes, seeing everyone afterwards talking about how heartwarming it was or about making history may hurt. But you can find that sense of community and making a difference elsewhere or on another day.

Mute the topic for a while if it helps to keep unwarranted guilt away.

Have work? Valid.
Have to care for others? Valid.
Other obligations? Valid.
Some sort of health situation, physical, emotional, or mental? Valid.
Just too damn tired from everything going on? You take a much needed break.

You don’t have to participate in #NoKings to somehow “count.”

You are not somehow on the wrong side or not doing enough by not being able to go to protests and rallies.

If I'd known years ago that the internet would be so good at tying "me" together, I'd have worked harder to keep parts of my life separated.

Nah that’s what they wanted you to think. Actually was a massive case of light pollution and well placed smoke machines to help reflect the light back. Messed up local bird populations something fierce. (I have no idea where this idea came from. 😂)

Yes, I partially blame all the “AI integrations” even as I’ve dutifully turned them all off. Something is eating up more resources, and that’s all I can think of.

Work laptop has always been on the “small” side as far as RAM. That’s fine; usually I’m doing only “lightweight” tasks.

I swear in past few months the same apps have started using up considerably more memory, causing significant lag, and it’s beginning to grate how little can cause it.

“Lying” is definitely closer, but that almost feels like there is intentionality behind it.

I feel like it’d be closer to say the algorithms have been taught the wrong understanding for what a “correct answer” is. They have been taught to hold up a “best guess” as absolute truth.
