A counterpoint to the slow diffusion of technology narrative is the extremely fast growth of infrastructure as a service (IaaS). In my data on large French firms, I find usage increases from 1.2% in 2017 to 22.3% in 2021! And a large minority of firms adopt multiple providers.

She faced $500 daily HOA fines for an unapproved door in her home. A new state law saved her California has new HOA rules. For most homeowners, fines are now capped at $100, thanks to a new housing bill.

California's AB 130 caps HOA fines as $100 unless the violation impacts health or safety. Pretty cool to see!

I strongly suspect such arguments against open borders or upzoning will seem just as absurd in 20 or so years.

To see this, between 1996 and 2012, the Libertarian Party supported same-sex marriage while the Democratic Party did not (books.google.com/books?id=KGQ...). With the benefit of hindsight, scorning this deregulation as a "right wing libertarian proposal" is absurd.

In a similar vein, a lot of left-NIMBYs will criticize upzoning because it's supported by libertarian think tanks. This is lazy reasoning.

For example, in 2015, Bernie Sanders criticized open borders as a "Koch brothers proposal" (www.vox.com/2015/7/29/90...)

One of the worst progressive arguments against a particular deregulation is that its supported by some major libertarian. I'm pretty confident that one can find a major libertarian in support of nearly *any* deregulation.

I know fish farming is quite horrific, and believe a large fraction of the industry's growth is from farmed fish (apnews.com/article/fish...). Less certain on all shellfish, but shrimp farming is also quite horrible: (80000hours.org/after-hours-...)

(Cotton production is mostly fine, unless it comes from Turkmenistan or parts of Uzbekistan)

I agree with the author's point that some LLM features are poorly integrated with existing software. That said, I've found Claude quite useful for relatively in-depth computing tasks (e.g. changing something in Terminal) that used to take a lot longer to solve via Google search
