Because of the rain last night it was actually cool enough this morning I had to wear a long sleeve shirt while having morning coffee.

seeking shade from the sun
cool darkness beneath the ground.
biding time till the sun season falls

The second after I post and I look with pride on the work which quickly turns to disgust because I really should have changed that one word or that one phrase and now it just sticks out like a neon light mocking me with its existence.

pulling down spiderwebs
dancing with ghosts
another pale sprite appears
drawn to the quiet flame
then another
more circle around
lost in the somber dance
a murder forms

each new word awkward on the page
the paper looks away
embarassed at my fumbling
i can write longer

Extremely weird to be watching all this happen while the 18yo cat I adopted when he was 12 weeks old begins to show difficulty breathing due to a growth in his neck.

I'm a witness to the last of the good days.

He won't know what the world is like after.

Grief walking backward.

It can feel like the universe is 100% hostile.
But it’s only 90% effective.
It trips. It breaks. It forgets.

And in that unruly 10%,
we plant our flag and we make our stand.
We build something that laughs back.

The sky’s not our limit—it’s our backdrop.
So we rise.
Again. Stronger.
