New legislation aiming to combat homelessness A pair of New Mexico senators is introducing a plan to fight homelessness in New Mexico and around the country after they co-sponsored the Housing For All Act.

"The bill aims to create more affordable housing by increasing funding to programs like the National Housing Trust Fund and the Home Partnerships Program.
"So, that's going to impact the work that not only we do at the coalition, but all of the agencies around the state," [Monet] Silva said."

New Mexico lawmakers took some steps forward this session toward real and lasting public safety solutions, but they left too many critical public safety solutions on the table.

“We appreciate the efforts made by lawmakers to pass meaningful legislation this session, such as housing application fees (SB 267),” said Monet Silva, NMCEH. “However, we cannot ignore the fact that many critical bills were left on the table, leaving our communities vulnerable and underserved.”
