We must not choose between efficiency and human rights. We won't 'magically' increase return numbers by tearing up the rulebook. Only a lawful, fair, and dignified return policy can deliver results.

The @commissionerhr.bsky.social just released a new memorandum on Greece, denouncing persisting pushbacks and entrenched lack of accountability. High time to acknowledge the long-standing prevalence of violations at Greeceโs sea and land borders and provide adequate remedy to victims.

Just completed the 1st day of my visit to Greece. I discussed #humanrights violations at the borders w. lawyers, NGOs, survivors of #pushbacks and of the #Pylos shipwreck. I also heard from civil society about Roma rights & engaged w. Roma people & local authorities in Halandri.
