Pretty obvious to all and sundry that the UK isn't a real democracy when we can see our elite and media class choosing our next dead behind the eyes prime minister in real time, despite the people hating him almost as much as the last one and their politics being identical.

BBC News bulletins leading on the story of an Algerian man being mistakenly released by the prison service.

Funnily enough I don't remember these cases ever leading the bulletins when an average of ten prisoners were mistakenly released a month in the final year of the last Government

Interesting. Though the October Revolution prompted some musical responses I am unaware of any operatic treatment of the events themselves. The Soviet approach following was that all art should adhere to the principles of the state: i.e. new work or old work was adapted to conform.

Nige is no longer laughing at himself as he โ€˜performsโ€™ yet another big speech | John Crace Reform leader is trying to make it as a mainstream politician โ€“ which involves contradicting himself and gaslighting voters

โ€œHis main theme was that the country was fucked. Largely because of Brexit. Weirdly, he has no memory of being the main architect behind the Brexit vote. He seems to think it happened in a world in which he played no part.โ€

Farage - the foghorn of failure.

Visual metaphor of a person finding out that what's only one step further is always "reasonable..."

Think of morality in terms of stairs-- whatever we do enables us to then easily do something one step beyond that. Don't ask "should i do this," ask "do i want to be somewhere a few steps from here," because *that's* what may eventually seem exactly as reasonable as what you're considering now.

I haven't read a zillion comics or anything, but out of those I have read throughout my life DB is one of the most human, relatable and thoughtful. Some comics have good writing or good art but DB has it all right in all its departments.

Russian Roulette In Caerphilly Ben Wildsmith Thursdayโ€™s by-election in Caerphilly is probably the most important poll held in Wales in our lifetimes. For most of us, voting has been something we do from a sense of civic duty, butโ€ฆ

As Reform swells with refugees from the Conservatives, it looks less like a vehicle for reform than a rebrand for the asset-stripping Thatcherism that crippled the Welsh economy in the first place โœ๏ธBen Wildsmith
