"[South Asian + Southwest Asian Features] Please note this is not a comprehensive list! but rather a compilation of what I have observed while drawing and within my own family. I am punjabi, most punjabi people are from north India + Pakistan and so they have both South Asian and Southwest Asian features. Because of this, we can look very diverse! (the image shows two faces with varying features and a check mark next to both) Both arew punjabi. The left has more southwest asian features while the right has more south asian features.

[Deep-set eyes] (The image shows a set of eyes, one with double lids and one with triple lids. An arrow points to the triple lid.) I have this one. Many SA + SWA people have naturally deep-set eyes. This results in very prominent eyelid creases above AND below. Deep set eyes are also called "hooded eyes" because the upper skin tends to droop down over this space. (A comparison drawing is shown of a face in side profile with shallow set and deep set eyes. Another diagram shows the eyeball in the socket and the skin around it with the fatty upper eye area puffing out slightly.)

Colours. A palette of colours is shown in a row, next to them are the labels "skin, eyes, hair". Below is a table of eyes and eyebrows displaying various combinations. Three are labelled "My dad" "My cousin" and "Grandma (Dad's Side)" respectively. The next row says "More examples I have seen." Although dark brown eyes are the most common, other eye colours show up too.

[hyperpigmentation] Hyperpigmentation is when areas of skin are darker than the rest. Many SA + SWA people experience this, those with light AND dark skin, especially around the eyes in the form of dark circles. (An illustration shows eyes with and without hyperpigmentation.) Because many people already have deep set eyes that are shadowed, the result often makes the surrounding eye area quite dark. A lot of comments about if I sleep enough or that my stare can be a little scary or just a bit intense. (A diagram shows eyes labelled "bare" and "applied", one without any makeup and the right with black makeup in the waterline.) Traditionally wear black eyeliner (surma/kajal/kohl) for special occasions or as a medicine.

Resisting School AI Mania Help Sheet Help Sheet: Resisting AI Mania in Schools K-12 educators are under increasing pressure to use—and have students use—a wide range of AI tools. (The term “AI” is used loosely here, just as it is by man...

I've updated my document that tackles four of the common arguments used to encourage teachers to use AI.

I hope this will be helpful to those educators wanting to push back on AI mania.

Today is October 7th.

Two years have passed here in Gaza, and we are still living under bombardment and hunger, bearing the pain of loss, suffering&displacement.

On this day,I ask anyone who wants to bring a glimmer of hope into this darkness to help me and my family:👇🏼🙏🏼

I say “I love you” freely to tons of people in my life. When I say it, what I explicitly mean is “I wish good for you. Whatever you put your mind to, I want you to succeed. I want you to thrive, & to be healthy in mind & body.”

I wish we could normalize this, esp among men.

AI impoverishes us at every step of the process:
- data centers pollute our environment
- energy use drives up costs
- content theft robs creators of income
- the actual output is used to displace workers and depress wages
- using it harms our mental health and impairs our competence
- the flood of AI slop is damaging our sociopolitical landscape

All in service of making a worse product - and world - to enrich a handful of already spectacularly wealthy people

While defending the luddite argument in Discord, I stumbled into this IMO succinct explanation for opposing generative AI:

At every step in the process, it impoverishes us.

-trans women (bsky protects jesse singal)
-Black users (bsky allows rampant antiBlack racism)
-SWers (bsky to implement hostile age verification in UK)
-organizers and activists (bsky autodeletes anyone in gaza with a pulse)
-artists (bsky dev says AI has rights lmao)

istg everything about our culture and society right now is set up to make us the worst versions of ourselves. it takes so much energy to not be angry and upset and aggressive. they did this to us and they did it on purpose. we don't have to let them get away with that contrived version of humanity

It sucks that all my amazing artist and writer associates constantly have to beg for cash. It's nice that we can come together and support them as a community but it would be better if some sort of government body took a small portion of everyones income and basically distrubuted it universally

i saw someone say "didnt cohost ban nsfw?" like that site had its fair share of flaws but people also just fucking lie about it

Portland is not war ravaged.

Chicago doesn’t need to be “saved”.

Undocumented immigrants do not qualify for Medicaid.

People should not have to “prove they matter” to get healthcare.

ICE should not be allowed to cover their faces.

This shutdown is being done to save healthcare.

would it be terribly wrong of me to say that I feel like "everyone wants to be a DJ, no one wants to be a dancer" applies to the TTRPG space?

there's too much emphasis on selling products & shows and not enough emphasis on cultivating a community that can appreciate these things

Our joy has been muted for so long, but love has won even when it was thought to have lost. Love reached the shores; can you hear our joys?

For anyone who needs to hear it, the advice to "always do your best" does not necessarily mean "always be the best."

Our "best" can change from day to day. Every day is different.

Doing your best just means being kind with yourself—knowing what you want and having the courage to go after it.

The theme of the lessening of the world, which was present in so much of Tolkien's world, is in congruence with fascism. This is heartily unpacked with tales of earthsea- the old is patriarchal, rigid, mythical, but it is not immovable as much as it presents itself to be

The thing with art is - and this goes for every art form - you've gotta be willing to screw up. You have to be okay with the idea that you spend hours & hours on something...and it sucks, or breaks before you're done.

You need to let go of pride.

A lot of folks are not prepared to let go of pride.

If "AI" was as valuable as they say it is, they wouldn't be selling it to you. They'd be using it themselves in secret to make the next Minecraft, the next Avatar, the next Hello Kitty and then they'd sell that to you.

They're trying to sell you a sick goose, while pretending it lays golden eggs.

Bluesky is one of the most organised social media I have seen start off as such. It was very quick tagging, blocking, filtering, & user based-control was added.
I would like to protect such a fine platform by defending our rights & liberties given, and legally available. Please defend your choices!

Make those telegram channels, discords, etc. Spread out.

Put social media on the backburner, whether you're worrying about being banned or not. Spread your eggs to different baskets.

Make your own website. Make your own communities. Reach out. Upload to FA. Network.

It's gonna be a long 4 years.

The whole 'consent' argument when it comes to censorship is so stupid and threatening, because it gives too much power to the person pulling the trigger

"Ew, I don't like this kink. I wouldn't consent to this. Therefore, nobody would. Goodbye, content I disagree with! Goodbye, people who like it!!"

20.09.2025 22:41 — 👍 32    🔁 10    💬 1    📌 0

Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% a consent-lover, even if the material looks questionable.

But all it takes is someone going "oh, tickling art makes me SO uncomf, I don't think they're enjoying it because -I'd- hate it, ban all of it", just replace 'tickling' with your slightly niche kink of choice.
