The « Scaling-Up and AI Start-Up » presentation moderated by Anne Laure Gannac and organized by the IC School took place this morning

Prof. Charlotte Bunne opens the session with AI for Cellular Discovery 💻🧪

Now at AMLD, researchers will show how machine learning is transforming scientific research and engineering problem-solving. 👩‍💻🧪

As usual, the session ended with Q&A: tough questions about research & development, governance, trust, and whether Europe can lead in shaping AI that serves humanity. No easy answers, but the right conversations. 🤔💬

Highlights include: Aldo Podestà, CEO of Giotto.AI; Stef Van Grieken, co-founder and CEO of Cradle, demonstrating how to engineer biology using language models; and @andyyen.bsky.social, founder and CEO of @proton.me, offering critical perspectives on privacy in the AI era.

📢🤩 Starting day 2 of #AMLD2026 with a crucial question: Is superintelligence Europe's dream or nightmare? @marcelsalathe.bsky.social introduces a keynote that tackles the technological, political, and societal implications of advanced #AI; and what role #Europe must play in steering its future.

Finally, Amir Zamir introduces foundations of multimodal learning.

Then Mathieu Salzmann talked about large foundation models for climate change 🌍 and @mariabrbic.bsky.social explained how foundations models can be used for modelling the complexity of life and molecules.🔬

@abosselut.bsky.social introduced the initiative, the current challenges posed by AI, and the need for Switzerland to build a solid national AI innovation ecosystem. 🚀

This afternoon, at @appliedmldays.bsky.social, IC School professors took part in Swiss AI initiative track.🇨🇭

This track highlights national effort to accelerate cutting-edge AI research & innovation across Switzerland, with a focus on building and enabling next-gen, large scale AI capabilities.

IC School’s professor, Robert West, co-organised the AMLD AI safety & alignement track with Roland Aydin. This track focuses on the principles of developing and deploying AI that does what humans want it to do.
