A man is set to inherit his father’s whole empire despite walking a way years before. Too bad so many supervillains think their owed a piece of the legacy

All the pages were physically inked then digitally cleaned up. Great pieces for me to practice on, and I've been getting direct feedback from Eaton himself as I complete each page which has been a huge help in pushing me to get even better.

down to it, there is still a fundamental right way and wrong way to do it. A difference between something being Inked vs being Line-art.

What do you think? Do you prefer a certain style? Do you see/notice a difference? Does it make a difference to you when reading a comic?

Id be curious to see where others weigh in on this, maybe I'm biased because of my focus and all the work at it for the last year and 100+ pages later.

Don't get me wrong, different inkers have different styles for sure, some very very recognizable, but I cant help but think that when you get

Line weight is the biggest way to do this, as a part of an object gets closer to the camera, the line weights should be thicker, the farther away it is, the thinner it should be. This is what helps create the volume of illusion.

Now my son, tried to argue that its a matter of style.

by multiple publishers that are "inked" with a lot of cleanup needing to be done that shouldn't have been published.

Whats been drilled into me is that with comic art we are taking a 3d object and displaying it as a 2d image, which means we have to work as artists to give it volume and life.

Ive been handed pages to colour and seen pages included for talent searches by publishers that are "inked" where ive had to go back and pretty much re-ink the entire page before tackling the colours.

I was fortunate enough to come to the attention of a pro inker with 20+ years of experience (12 professionally) and get a lot of one on one coaching and feedback on virtually every piece ive posted.

Inking, is NOT just covering your pencil lines in black. It is interpreting what the penciler has

you know my focus for the last year and a bit has been working towards being an inker. Lots of reading, lots of practice, lots and lots of lines pulled with pretty much any kind of pen or brush you can think of capable of laying down a black line.

I read books by Martin, by Janson, and others.

IF you look at the two black and white versions, they ARE different. I did some of the work on a separate layer as an example to show my son in the difference between line-art or tracing, vs Inking.

Oh wow, okay yeah been a while since ive posted. Not that I'm not active, just that I seem to keep forgetting about bluesky with everything else going on!
