It was a really fantastic activity. You gave really nice structure to a bunch of people to work together and check each other’s homework, and gave some real encouragement to us in our first projects. It was really huge.

You can still see all the resources and do all the exercises. Someone collected them all at www.comicsschool.org

We are now 5 years out from @gailsimone.bsky.social’s #ComicsSchool program during the pandemic.

I’m still making comics, and I know a bunch of other folks from that cohort are as well.

Thanks for helping us find the way, Gail!

The new Naked Gun is very fun and funny right from the jump.

Go see a comedy in a movie theater so we can keep having comedies and movie theaters.

I’m just reading @manruss.bsky.social’s X-Factor now and holy heck this was timely social commentary. I love it and also wonder how many lunatics wrote him angry letters about it.

Really well done homage to The Soiling of Old Glory in X-Factor #1 (2024)

Sometimes movies are worse than you expect.

This is a tweet about Rawhead Rex.

His mailers are so bad. It’s like he’s trying to make himself look like a supervillain.

Lindsay Graham getting a serious primary challenge from the right after prostrating himself for the past 8 years on things he knows (and had previously said) are wrong is exactly what that guy deserves.

Leave it to @joshkraft.bsky.social to do an anti-Trump mailer that makes it look like Trump backs Josh Kraft.

This is the Megalopolis of political campaigns.

β€œI didn’t know” is not the same as, and does not mean β€œpeople don’t know.”

Thank you for coming to my soapbox talk.

I am not just saying this because I like his politics: I admire and relate deeply to Zohran's conception of American identity, and find it genuinely moving to have a politician forcefully advocating for a pluralistic, cosmopolitan, democratic America in these times

Might I suggest that people who actually live in cities know more about what’s happening in them and what they need from their mayors than people who do not live in cities?

We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time."
Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.
That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.

From Hunter S. Thompson’s ESPN page 2 column one week after 9/11.

Just an endless stream of hellish nonsense we’re all living through because Florida had weird ballots in the year 2000.

I agree that Iran should not have a nuclear bomb, which is why we negotiated a treaty with them to not produce a bomb. We then needlessly and thoughtlessly broke that treaty (forget who was responsible), but we can't act like any Iranian effort to develop a bomb afterwards was anything but rational.

This is nothing like Iraq.

Iran is double the population and this president is way dumber than W.

The mistake I’m seeing a lot of the media make is they seem to think proving that these people are idiots will change anyone’s opinions of them, when we’ve just lived through 9 years of Americans proving that it will not.
