💯. I know why it’s happening—just wild to see such stark data.

I used to get ~40% of my campaign engagement from Twitter. Now I’ve literally gotten one backer from there.

Also, re: bots. Yes. I understand Twitter has a lot of bots. But I have used Twitter for a long time, and a substantial number of my followers are real people who are specifically interested in the kind of stuff I do. They simply are not seeing my posts anymore is the point.

When you spend years building up a base to keep up with your work (that worked!) and then that platform is completely upended, it means you have to do all that work again while you’re also still trying to make stuff.

There’s a good deal of comments and RTs to this that have a kind of shitty “DoNt YoU kNoW tWiTtEr Is bOtS aNd OwNeD bY a DeMoN.”

People posting these comments seem unaware that Twitter was an *incredibly* important tool for creatives for a long time & a lot of us had large and active follower lists
