29.01.2026 16:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I often do two paintings on one page and try to keep some connection between them in subject matter or colors. Hereโs the full page for my winter meditations. I wish it would snow where I live!
01.01.2026 14:49 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, I am going to start getting a tube of py150 whenever I buy paints. Itโs by far my favorite yellow & probably my 2nd or 3rd most used color. Hopefully it doesnโt come to pass!!! even if it sticks around, Iโll use any extra tubes I pick up.
29.12.2025 01:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0A watercolor winter landscape of a river winding through snowy banks. Stands of trees with lingering leaves are on either side, and a cottage surrounded by pines sits in the distance.
I havenโt been happy with my original paintings lately, everything feels slumpy and difficult. So I followed a Paul Clark tutorial for this one to try to shake off the doldrums.
I lost my whites around the cottage: white gouache to the rescue! #watercolor #landscapeart
Handprint speculated recently that py129 and my beloved py150/nickel azo gold may not be long for the world. I hope itโs not true because py150 is my absolute favorite yellow and green mixer!!! I will stock up on so many tubes if this happens; hard to imagine life without it.

28.12.2025 20:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Daniel Smith hoarded it and still sell pr206 under quinacridone burnt scarlet, but once the stock is gone itโll be no more. I heard that the automotive industry drives demand for pigment production. People who buy cars need to buy in more colors to keep the demand up!
28.12.2025 20:02 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0A watercolor painting of autumn trees along a river. In the background looms a series of mountains, varied in their mistiness. The farthest mountain is snow-covered.
I did this a few weeks ago, after an early autumn road trip that took me into the mountains and over the snow line. #watercolor #traditionalpainting
22.11.2025 17:42 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you! I love doing landscapes and still find them challengingโitโs so hard to capture the light and atmosphere in ways that feel authentic!
18.11.2025 14:06 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0as with all my desert paintings, the hero of this piece is pr233 potterโs pink. my beloved!
16.11.2025 19:27 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A watercolor painting of sandstone cliffs and mountains trying to capture the moment when light strikes mountains after a storm. The distant cliffs glow yellow while the foreground is a mix of blue, gray, and muted pink.
forever thinking about the light in the desert before, after, and during storms. #watercolor #traditionalart #landscapepainting

09.11.2025 05:57 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The watercolor landscapes on one page. They are thumbnails loosely capturing landscapes in one or two layers. At the top cows stand under a tree as a storm approaches. In the middle two bare trees are silhouetted against a yellow and lavender sky. The bottom is a late summer landscape of a dirt road and fence with green and red fields in the background.
I often work small so donโt usually sketch or thumbnail. But I watched a video today on thumbnailing landscapes as a practice of its own and was inspired to make some in 1 or 2 layers. I like the idea of having a store of thumbnails to choose from when I do have time/energy for a bigger piece.

18.10.2025 15:50 โ ๐ 11 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1A watercolor and ink card of a purple and blue hydrangea. A vertical rectangle cuts through the whole card and within it there is no color, only line work.
An ink and watercolor card of three pink and yellow tulips. A circle frames the middle tulip. Everything within the circle is painted, outside of it is ink alone.
the last two cards I did for the small gift set. The hydrangea was the only one I used pencil on, and that just guidelines. This year I ditched pencils and erasing for ink sketching and Iโm happy with how confident Iโve gotten with inkโฆ even if it means my mistakes last forever! #watercolor
12.10.2025 00:43 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1A loose watercolor winter landscape of bare trees in front of a mountain and muted violet and yellow sky.
Hereโs a tutorial painting following a video by Bianca Rayala. I really liked the color combination of pv29 perylene violet and pbr7 monte amiato sienna in the sky! #watercolor

Hereโs the only other one from the sketchbook that I photographed before the spill. I havenโt checked on it since yesterday but I could tell that several were damaged.
08.09.2025 22:56 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโm so glad I took a picture of this and shared it because yesterday I spilled one of my water containers on this sketchbook ๐ข Iโm just grateful it wasnโt one of my bigger books where my more time-intensive paintings go.
08.09.2025 22:52 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Iโm happy with my lines. I donโt often draw before painting but the ink and wash style looks how Iโd planned! I gave up pencil and erasing in January and it was the best decision I ever made for drawing. Going in ink first forces me to think before I draw!
07.09.2025 19:01 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Two handmade floral cards done with black ink and watercolor. On the left is a pink flower against a purple square. The drawing outside the square is unpainted. On the right is a red and yellow poppy. A bar through the middle is unpainted.
Iโm working on a small set of cards to gift to a family member whoโs a big gardener. These went smoothly and Iโm feeling confident Iโll finish the project in time!

I have a small sketchbook that I use mostly for little sky studies. If I donโt do skies regularly I forget how! In this one I wanted to capture the feeling of noticing a pretty sky in a mundane setting. most of my favorite sunsets and rises have been witnessed in parking lots. #watercolor
