What are Wildlife Crossings? Overpasses or tunnels, they enable animals' freedom of movement, & save lives, money, & property. They mitigate the impact of human intrusion into habitats. Wildlife crossings are important to animals large & small: beavers, bears, deer, fish, turtles, bees, and more.

How will the Administration carry out this executive order and how will it be interpreted at Federal science agencies? We must monitor. We must work to preserve the integrity of the world-class science done at Federal agencies and the science-based public safeguards it enables. Watch this space.

Trump's Attack on Science Is an Attack on Public Health Opinion | I spent years doing research to inform policy. Now the Environmental Protection Agency is working to erase it.

Once again we see a focus on reproducibility, transparency in modeling and data, emphasis on uncertainties--All things scientists routinely do! But history shows this frame has been coopted to discredit scientists and attack science-based policies with EPA a prime example: undark.org/2019/11/21/o...

Congress's attacks on science-based rules Proposed laws based on false premises could undermine science for the public interest

Here the Administration lays the groundwork for weaponization of scientific principles to justify rollback of science-based policy actions. This isn't just hypothetical, its what the first-term Trump Administration and members of Congress have done for years. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

The EO proports to be focused on the hallmarks of scientific quality--reproducibility, transparency, unbiased peer-review. The scientific community at large embraces these pillars of science. Now we must watch what actions the administration takes next at agencies in the name of these principles.

Restoring Gold Standard Science By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 7301 of title 5, United

The Trump administration just dropped an executive order, "Restoring Gold Standard Science" and there's lots to unpack. This EO reveals more about how the Administration will approach scientific integrity and science in regulatory contexts. Some initial thoughts. 🧵

babies have claws on their wings when first born; they can climb around on trees using claws and feet before they can fly. They are the only such species. How cool is that!

Just reposting this which I think is the most gorgeous thing I have seen in my career - a critically endangered orange-bellied parrot feeding on a carpet of daisies after an ecological burn. This was the first time they’d had the chance to feed naturally in 15y and was wonderful to witness

4 12x18 inch posters on a brick and concrete wall. The top left is pink and says funding science saves lives, written in microbes, next to a microscope. The one on the right says Biology is bigger than binaries, with a fish, a lily, and a bee. The bottom left says Protecting wildlife starts wtih you, with a bunch of adiorable woodland creatues in yellow, white and black, including an owl, fungi, a... um. weasel? salamanders, butterflies, slugs, and a rotting log. The bottom right says Will our oceans thrive or nosedive the choice is yours, with the ocean represented in a circle, half of which is dead and half of which is alive, including kelp and a mackerel

That means he may have to do a little bit of research and understand that he swore a an oath to defend and protect the constitution.

Do not mess with librarians. The inner strength required to meticulously care for history's greatest works of literature and then just let total strangers borrow them willy-nilly is Jedi level stuff.
