Finally picked up Clair Obscur, And as someone who has never really played a souls game, timing the Dodges and stuff takes some getting used to.
But I am loving it so far

The country may be a shit show but lighting some fireworks to the cheers of my youngest (and some neighbors) brought me back to memories with my dad.
No kings in America, and FDT but seeing my youngest enjoy the booms (with hearing protection) was still a happy moment amongst the all the bad.

Last night I just was expressing frustration cuz it spent about 2 hours with zero progress.
I reformatted my laptop about 2 months ago so maybe spending a new config time might be worth it.

I have an npm task to run prettier and it formats things one way. I've been trying to have neovim automatically format files but it doesn't use the same config so formats differently.

Probably time to just redo my nvim config again. Cuz the formatting thing's been off for months.

I love neovim. I really do
But formatting in this svelte project is really pissing me off.

Tonight was the third full session of Fabula Ultima (fourth if counting sesh 0). My eldest finally was able to join.
While the youngest just loves rolling the dice and punching the bad guys, it is going really well.
Relatively video gamey, in the right ways, and silly, but lots of fun to run.

First full session of Fabula Ultima done. I need to finish reading the full book cause I definitely spent a long time looking up stuff, but so far so good.
Also need a good random name list to keep in play.

I have a modded arcade1up machine to the raspberry pi in it, and today I added features and parts to where the on off switch that came with it works and the volume switch that came with it works.

Just ran a Session Zero for Fabula Ultima.

My players wanted a world in the shape of a halo ring with city's and things floating in the middle.

Making a map of that is gonna be fun

The worst part of my little side project? Data entry when new cards come out.

But at least now I get an excuse to publish some new changes alongside the content update.

All day I've been triaging an outage at work and the end result is I've been out of the loop for so much. But I'll say it again. Screw the Felon In Charge and his entire admin.

With the executive order and how the whole thing is based on lack of enforcement of the law, this is not how this should be happening.
We need comprehensive data privacy and protection laws that would solve almost all issues that they claimed to be worried about

The fact Marvel Snap got caught up in the ban too made me laugh, but I will say, once more for the people in the back, Facebook, Insta, twitter, Google, all of them do more with your data than anything TikTok did.

This can already happen with American apps. This already does happen with American apps.
(Specifically, friends getting targeted and those targets containing malware)

D&D, Pathfinder, whatever you play. If you and the rest of your table agree and you are having fun, it doesn't matter if others on the Internet think you are doing it wrong.

Unless some hardcore data privacy laws came down that affected every social media platform, 90% of the arguments I heard are complete bullshit.
And they could accomplish all the somewhat legitimate goals by passing & enforcing those laws.
But no. TikTok is the problem

I listened to a stream that included some of the oral arguments from the Supreme Court about TikTok.
I worked in advertising technology. They claimed to worry about security, but the information American companies have on Americans can be just as bad or even worse.
I don't buy the argument.

Also, just posting this to put it out in the universe.

I want to do more coding for fun, and I want to do more TTRPG and Board Game related things.

Not sure if those will be connected or not. Just a kinda goal I'm setting for myself.

Sometimes, when the world feels like it's falling apart, playing video games with my wife and kids makes things feel, at least for a bit, so much nicer.

Today I got my most recent mission patches from our last satellite launch. I didn't even really know that was a thing before joining the company last Jan.

During an all hands meeting going over the year in review, lots of people were wearing Ugly Christmas sweaters and things, so I grabbed a string of addressable LEDs and a controller, and got it strung into my beard.

Debating going back through the month with maybe Elixir or Gleam just cause want to branch out to a different language.
