The CES was way more efficient. Which meant better service to employers because jobs were filled sooner. When I worked in DEET I calculated that if the CES reduced the average duration of unemployment by just 2 weeks, it paid for itself. Not forgetting it was a valuable source of local labmkt intel.

Not so much in recent years to be honest. Used to do lots of bushwalking with heavy pack but now limited by poor lung function.

Both are important as you would know. Being married to an audiologist I had no choice and I've now had hearing aids for about 8 years. I also was amazed to discover I had osteoporosis in a femur - probably because I'm quite light, (70kg) despite getting lots of exercise.

I dropped out after a few months. Hated it.

Many years ago a friend was in hospital with pneumonia and not responding to meds. Her husband (PhD in microbiology) took his own sample, cultured it, and told doc what antibiotic to use. It worked but doc was miffed.
