Dirty-looking foam at Bald Hill Beach on Sunday, presumably due to the toxic algal bloom that has been a huge problem along our coastline for several months. I didn't see any dead creatures this time (but the cynic in me wondered if there was anything left to kill).

Yes, there is an Army base there and houses. Sometimes the road to the beach is closed - such as when they are doing live firing or when they are doing secret squirrel stuff, like over the past couple of weeks 😆
I sometimes camp overnight at the beach.
It's not fancy, but I often have it to myself.

Red knot L99 at Bald Hill Beach, South Australia, would have recently returned from the northern hemisphere. It was banded in northern China in May 2024. It's incredible to think about how far these birds travel.

A beautiful sky at Bald Hill Beach late yesterday - and notice all the little shorebirds? That's why I go there. A mixture of species in this shot. Tiny little dots at a distance but great to watch. Photos of those to come later.
