There was a lot of yarn in that gansey.

Now starting that lace shawl. ‘Beginner’s Triangle’ by Amy Detjens, pattern is in ‘A Gathering of Lace’ by Meg Swansen, XRX books.

Quite forgiving pattern that can be used on many different yarns and needle sizes.

A knitted gansey/sweater in navy-blue wool. Chest and one sleeve done. Second sleeve not done.

My kidney stone got removed the same day I complained to my doctor about recurring stomach pains. Only direct cost to me: cab fare home next day as I didn’t want to take my usual bus.

Here in Denmark ‘fredagsslik’. Same as, just on Fridays.

Evolution at work. Non-contested, widely available food source gets utilised.

Fo the same for ‘domestic cats’ and all bird deaths.

Neck done. It fits ok. But the yarn still has the spinning oil in it so it needs to be washed first before it loses its stiffness and blooms.
Now for the sleeves. Even more 2/2-rib …

Front and back down, shoulder seams closed. Yes, I can get my head through the neck. Yes, it fits.
Now to pick up stitches for the neck.
Starting to hate 2/2-rib though.

Apparently there is also a helmet option if I heard it right in the announcement.

Industrieferien here in Denmark. Not so much anymore, but a lot of big companies shut down in the summer school holidays so families could go on holiday together.

There are parts of my family I only keep in loose contact with because my Dad is still alive. Once I lose him, they can go to H….

Back done. A simple test fit is OK. The wool still has spinning oil in it and I hope it will bloom, soften, and thicken when it is getting its soak.

Working on ‘jorn’s gansey’ from Beth Brown-Reinsel’s book ‘knitting ganseys’. The instructions for the different sizes were slightly confusing as all sizes have the same length. But I figured it out. I took some measurements from my favorite sweater and decided to elongate the plain section by 5 cm.

‘Jorn’s Gansey’ from Beth Brown-Reinsel’s book ‘knitting ganseys - revised and updated’. Knitting it in a two-ply wool from wadils.dk. A gansey of course can have your initials on the front near the left seam. TH for me then. 2025 on the back.

Thank you for that. The dark petrol (second from right) is my favorite. But all the colours are good really.

Cones of yarn dyed in sixteen shades of blue.

Did I mention that I occasionally also dye wool? This is white and grey lambswool 7/2 100 g on each cone. It was dyed using six variants of the Berliner Blau/Turnbull’s blue/Prussian blue process.
There are more of the first two variants as I was unsure about the method.

more than 1.6 meters or 60 inches square. It turned out somewhat larger than I had planned.
But then again shawls like that should be worn with a lot of panache and drama.

She is my Dad’s polish house keeper/live-in nurse/companion.
