Today my @nytimes.com colleagues and I are launching a new series called Lost Science. We interview US scientists who can no longer discover something new about our world, thanks to this yearβs cuts. Here is my first interview with a scientist who studied bees and fires. Gift link: nyti.ms/3IWXbiE

I've never seen such escalation and use of force toward ends I just could not see. There was no real property destruction, no pushing into the neighborhoods to make arrests, very little obstructing of traffic. Saw chemicals and bangs deployed down streets the feds were not facing and did not travel.

Quintard Taylor, UW professor and Black history archivist, dies at 76
Quintard Taylor Jr., professor emeritus of history at UW and founder of an online archive of Black history, died Sunday.
Sad to learn that Dr. Quintard Taylor has died. Been an admirer of his work since Joe Trotter assigned his Forging of a Black Community in seminar 31 years ago (and later made a personal introduction). His work remains an inspiration. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Only an administration intent on committing war crimes in the present and future would stoop to calling Wounded Knee a "battle" rather than what it truly was: a massacre of over 250 Lakotas, mainly women, children, and the elderly. 1/

A thought I keep returning to β and thatβs underscored by todayβs news β is that a legacy publication or a deep-pocketed investor could hire an astonishing array of talent right now and make the best newspaper in America overnight.

I am in Norway, which just had its national election. When people learn where I am from, they excitedly want to talk about Zohran Mamdani.
That's how effective this campaign has been.

That wonβt happen this year, but the Mets have come back from the dead since I departed.
