I'm too tired to be witty right now, but you might get lucky and catch me at the right level of sleep deprivation. Law, fighting fascism, travel, cats. A republic if we can keep it, indeed.

And not for nothing, the last thing we need post-Trump is a soulless narcissist who cares more about personal aggrandizement and power than policy stances and serving the people.
Hard pass.
26.10.2025 17:16 β π 34 π 1 π¬ 3 π 0Absolutely brilliant work by Anna, who calmly reclaimed colours and symbols that hate movements have been trying to appropriate and turned them into something positive and inclusive, resulting in the biggest-ever personal mandate for a president.
It can be done.
I agree with the sentiment, but Rand Paul is kind of the epitome of the broken clock that's right twice a day. Usually wrong, but has always had his moments.
26.10.2025 16:25 β π 80 π 5 π¬ 2 π 0The fact that some prominent Democrats defend a Maine Senate primary candidateβs Nazi tattoo while he isnβt even leading in polls, but not defend a NYC mayor primary winner from false smears even as heβs leading general election polls says a lot.
That doesnβt seem driven by voter preference.
It would help to have a National Day of Action re: SNAP - perhaps on November 1. It would take rapid response but houses of worship could take the lead in mobilizing their members. Educate everyone about the cuts, encourage local donations, pressure Congress, etc...

Congress created Special Immigrant Juvenile Status as a protection against deportation β yet because of procedural quirks, there is a lag/limbo between SIJS and a green card, and a person can have both a removal order AND a SIJS grant. This admin is pushing forward with removal during this lag time.

25.10.2025 20:27 β π 4102 π 1353 π¬ 88 π 42Hello Chief and APD Leadership, I just wanted to jot a quick thank you note for those who participated in this meeting with the Latino community about ICE in our neighborhoods. Sadly, this problem is not going away anytime soon. Historically, the police have been on the wrong side of history during the civil rights movement and the labor movement - defending capital. The pivotal points in American history are when police realized that their solidarity should be with labor; not capital. Labor vs. police: Learning from working-class history Workers World In this current struggle, I believe that we are 2-3 years away from a moment where we see the shift in solidarity. I would like to see Aurora lead, and show something different. It will create discomfort during the transformation. I noticed during the march towards Blue Kangaroo, when the police escort disappeared, that activists I didn't know used their vehicles to block the intersections and protect the marchers.
All living things have the capacity to evolve and grow. Government is about to go through a huge evolutionary period and shed that which is not necessary, and re-focus on what is important. As government continues to disintegrate from the top down, we have an opportunity to re-invent the ways we find food, water, shelter and protection. We would like the Aurora Police Department to play a historic role in defending the United States of America, and our city against fascism. We have a unique opportunity to do something different, leave our mark in the history books, and make a difference. I'm excited about the opportunity and look forward to discussing it further. Respectfully, John Laesch Mayor, City of Aurora laesch@aurora.il.us

Reality: the working class is predominantly White women and racial minorities in the low wage service sector.
