First motorcycle ride in the wet. I simply didn't check the weather last night before committing to bike.

Not too bad! Coworkers were worried but in a good way. Actually felt really nice to be really slow through turns. Didn't do any lane splitting, just to make it easier.

First "we're passing" email from a place that I thought would be a good match. Disappointed.

I assumed it would take longer so I could get more information about them. I had planned to swing by their office. I guess I still will, since that's the only stupid tactic I have available.

Since I live in San Jose, I figured today would have lots of weird vibes with the super bowl being in town.

Being flown over by fighter jets twice in 30 minutes was not in my card though. It's gonna be a long afternoon.

It's so weird being at work, but everyone talking about job hunting.

There's a camaraderie here that we never experienced before. We're talking to people about what they want to do or enjoy doing, passing job postings to one another.

It feels like we're really looking out for one another.

You don't know how good you are at something until it's out to test, or used in competition.

I had no idea that I was skilled at peeling boiled eggs - being able to do 5 in the time my girlfriend did 1.

And it's really interesting to notice how this works when my job is coming to an end. Suddenly even todo is triaged - is it really important or not?

Some things are more important because it's the last chance I'll have to do them here, the last chance to explore that knowledge and apply it.

One thing I am really happy to have is just straight up a desire to know. I love learning. I love being able to read something from a book and apply it. It's not even about showing off, or as a means to an end - I just love doing it.

If company gets bought, the date might extend out a bit. But depending on who buys us, they might not keep anyone.

Management was forward about it though, so no one has to act like they're not looking for work. Already got a few bosses to agree to be references.

So place I work is essentially going under or being sold soon, so my last day (may) be just a month from now.

Feeling sad and grateful. This job had it's downsides, but it got us to California, and I got to work fully remote for 6 years.

Thinking this morning that there are people alive today who don't know where the "pod" came from in podcast.

One week check in with the two guys who I am mentoring on unit tests.

One guy asked a bunch of questions already, finished everything. Onto the next step. Super excited to see that the work can get done.

The other guy stopped when he got an error and didn't talk to anyone about it.

Tire was down to 25 psi this morning, but after giving it some spins, and a soapy spray test, I can't find anything. So maybe fixed? Still gonna ride it and try and enjoy it.

Got the other tire done too! Also passed the soap test.

You do play a lot of games. I bet you'd also love the challenge of figuring out how to stream your game to the TV, but still capture it, and get twitch integration working.

First tubeless tire conversion done! I have been so looking forward to the brown sidewall of the GP 5000s and am so happy to see them.

Will do the other one tomorrow morning... Because it's late. Definitely not because I am worried that this one will go flat. No definitely not that.

Got my whole bike ride in! Set a 5 minute power PB.
Rode motorcycle to work, grabbing lunch halfway there.
Squeezed my brain hard at work.
Threw out our Christmas tree and cleaned up after it.
Dinner out and grocery shopping.
Oh, and I did stretches!
