US constitution

US constitution

This is the US Constitution page @ the Library of Congress

Sections 9 and 10 have been removed

9 includes habeas corpus, the courts' review of unlawful detention & imprisonment

This gov't can't change the Constitution w/ sneaky editing, but it's a new low: constitution.congress.gov/constitution/

That's so gross. My boss just told several of us to stay home until the snowy roads were completely cleared in our neighborhoods. And that was just for an inch or two of snow.

Internalized capitalist bullshit: when heavy snow was expected, my boss sent out a text saying those of us in the hilly neighborhoods were to stay put until our routes were 100% clear. I felt gratitude. We should be able to take it for granted that our employers want us to be safe.

Check out my list on Amazon

Hey, you know I work at an awesome low barrier, mixed gender, non-religious, trauma-informed shelter, right?

Since some friends have asked how to support our work, we have a wishlist on Amazon. No pressure, but we'd be grateful if you are able to help with any of these items.

Mental Resiliency- Practical tips

Take what is relevant to you, ignore what isn’t everyone who is looking at this has vastly different circumstances, what works for some won’t work for all.

Being proactive now about what you can do to prepare for the future can be empowering. It reminds you how much control you still do have over your own life. If something bad happens and you are prepared for it, your mental resiliency will be much better because you ARE prepared for it.

Part of the point of all this *EXPLICITLY* is to WEAR US DOWN. People that are worn down are less likely to stand up and fight back for what’s right. Knowing this, prioritizing caring for yourself and your basic mental, emotional and physical needs IS a way to push back. You can not pour from an empty cup, and people whose goal it is to wear others down KNOW this. It’s why they want to break others spirits.

Do not allow fear to let you unintentionally slip into isolating yourself. Drag yourself out of the house, invite people over, video chat with others, join efforts of people trying to do good, find places in the world and the internet where life is HAPPENING. Actively remind yourself you’re not alone by finding and emersing yourself in spaces that allow you to be around, or interact with others. ISOLATION AND FEAR IS A UNHEALTHY COMBINATION. NONE OF US ARE IMMUNE TO THE EFFECTS.

Optimizing your Finances
Some questions to ask yourself

If you are considering leaving and you have an airline credit card- are you making purchases on your credit card (and paying them off immediately!) in order to get as many airline miles as you can so that leaving is less of a financial strain in the event you want to leave?

If I worry now that I am at risk of losing my job- are there bills (like car insurance) I can pay ahead for the year? So that in the event my job is lost, it’s one less bill you or your partner or family have to worry about covering?

If you are worried about potentially losing your job- are there car repairs that need to happen NOW before tariffs make car related purchases more expensive?

If you are worried about potentially losing your job- are there any purchases you can make for your household that would potentially lower your overall cost of living? Are there kitchen appliances you can get that will help bring down your grocery bill such as breadmakers, juicers, plant based milk makers, food processors etc. (Ex: Will you want to be spending $5-$7 on a carton of oatmilk or a few dollars on a container of oats and make your own oatmilk?)

If I worry that I might lose my job- will I appreciate having access to solar power in my home to keep my electric bill down and maintain a level of normalcy in my home by still having access to electronics lights etc.

If I worry about losing my job and things get more expensive- What would I want to ALREADY have on hand to make life easier?

Better uses of your time than doomscrolling

We all get lost in the sauce, none of us are above it. It helps greatly if you know what other things you can do other than scrolling and paralyzing yourself about the future.

If you want to move abroad...
Do you need to practice another language?
Do you need to earn an internationally recognized certificate to be eligible for work abroad?
Do you have paperwork you need to get in order?

If you are worried about prices going up for food and further deregulation in the animal agriculture industry...
Do you need to seek out what simple dishes you can make from scratch?
Do you need to practice making more foods from scratch?
Do you need to practice making more *ACTUALLY TASTY* vegetarian meals so it’s easier for you to avoid meat more often as listeria and other outbreaks become more common as a result of animal agriculture deregulation?

If you want to protect your privacy online...
Do you need to research and swap to a more privacy focused browser?
Do you need to acquire/learn how to use a VPN?
Do you need to make the switch to more secure forms of communication like email and SMS?
Do you need to download a password protector and upload all your logins?
