Do you still have active export permits for military equipment to the nation that continues to use it to create the need for this aid?

Is Canada Getting A Surprise Election For Christmas This Year? I don't think so. But we might end up with one by accident. That would be a mistake.

Are we getting a surprise election for Christmas? I donโ€™t think so. But I can also see us ending up with one by accident.

On the grim prospects of a winter vote.

That $2 million has got to come from somewhere. It's probably not coming from the paltry tax revenue of the rural areas which are policed by the RCMP.

Haligonians don't want nine more officers (public feedback was against), they don't need more officers (calls diverting to civilian team), and evidence shows more officers aren't going to reduce crime.

So naturally, Halifax is going to pay for more officers. #Halisky

Yes, EVs are still the future Why we need to ignore the naysayers and actually look at the data

Fact check: EVs are still the future, no matter what the Trump administration tries to do to forestall it.

The question for Canada now is whether we want to participate in that future or get stuck in the past.

'No consistent association' between police funding and crime rates in Canada, study indicates | CBC News There's "no consistent association" between police funding and crime rates across the country, according to a published study by University of Toronto researchers.

Ottawa has increased police spending 42% in the last decade, which had the effect of.... increasing crime 63%.

It's almost like police have little to do with crime rates:

Most speakers at Halifax police board meeting against budget increases for cops - Halifax Examiner Board also presented updates on defund police report, community safety projects.

We're diverting police work to the Civilian Crisis Response Team, but still looking to spend on more officers?!?

When given the opportunity to weigh in, most Haligonians don't want to spend more on policing:

Ottawa police reporting 63 per cent increase in crime in last 10 years The Ottawa Police Service is reporting an overall increase in the volume of crime in Ottawa between 2015 and 2024 as it works toward its 2026 draft budget.

It would be nice to see a chart with a line showing the increase in crime next to a line showing the increase in the Ottawa Police budget over the last 10 years

The carbon tax was good policy that the government couldn't be bothered to sell to Canadians - half of Canadians receiving rebates had no idea they were getting them.
