natural habitats and parks and recreation along the shoreline: which connects our communities from Richmond to Oakland along the San Francisco Bay. We talked about our continued collective efforts to preserve our shoreline - and, by extension, to support our community’s health and wellness.

I joined the Citizens for East Shore Parks and other state and local leaders and advocates from Contra Costa and Alameda Counties in celebrating the CESP’s 40th anniversary. We had an engaging conversation reflecting on the history of protecting and expanding (1/2)

My Office is committed to supporting Memorial Tabernacle and all faith based institutions across our district as they uplift our community through hope, compassion and unity.

I was honored to join City leaders and Rep. Simon in celebrating the 100th anniversary of Oakland’s Memorial Tabernacle Church. The Church is a true pillar of the community and exemplifies efforts towards racial and economic justice through generations of faith in action.

Tomorrow is Oakland’s annual Black Cowboy Festival! 🤠

At the festival, expect Black cowboys parading around the park, activities for kids, vendors and artwork! The free festival takes place on October 4 from 9 AM to 6 PM at DeFremery Park (1651 Adeline Street). See you there for the line dance!

We talked about everything from transit issues to (with some of our younger constituents) what kindness and community look like. Above all, it was a colorful day of getting our steps in, learning about resources and businesses through engaging activities, and being in community.

My team and I had an exhilarating day connecting with local leaders and community at one of the biggest events of the year in our district: the Solano Stroll! We loved getting to spend time with folks from all over our district and beyond, and sharing about the Board and County's resources and work.

My staff and I participated in @replsimon.bsky.social’s town halls in Albany and Piedmont last month and shared timely County-level updates related to immigration and the safety net. It was great to see the strong turnout and unity among folks in two parts of our district!

This Saturday, join Oakland Fire Chief Damon Covington, CM Unger, CM Ramachandran, and I in celebrating the reopening of Fire Station 25, marking the reopening of all fire stations in Oakland, and learning the importance of wildfire preparedness from local and regional fire prevention officials!

Together, we must give Measure W a chance to work and demonstrate impact. And in the meantime, we must work together and leverage every available resource to address the homelessness crisis.

Alameda County faces significant challenges with homelessness, and my hope is that Oakland, and all cities, work with the County to set policies that are grounded in health and human rights. Cities also play a vital role in identifying additional interim housing projects that Measure W can support.
