I agree and cringe whenever I hear that word. What they really mean is "analyze". But that sounds too common or scientific or technical, and so, "unpack" has supplanted its use as the less technical approach. Whomever came up with it must think they are a new Shakespeare. Ugh!

Many of us who attended elementary through high school in the English Catholic school system in Montreal had to sit through religion classes for many years.
