Why does this matter?

the US is by far the biggest global health donor worldwide, so the ban — plus Trump pulling the US out of the WHO + pausing all foreign aid — has HUGE ramifications on the ground

last time the ban was in place, an estimated 108k women and children died in LMIC

So last night Trump reinstated the Mexico City Policy aka global gag rule, which bans the US from funding foreign NGOs that have anything to do with abortion (performing them but also counseling or giving people info on abortion)

I’m into global health, infectious disease threats, NCDs, environmental health, addiction, food, and more generally what’s wrong with us and who/what is working to fix it
