Thanks to @elenawhitham.bsky.social for raising this issue in the chamber today. With 40 families of colour being denied the temporary accommodation they are legally entitled to every week, we need action to ensure a safe, secure and affordable home is available to everyone. #HousingEmergency

On average, ethnic minority households spend a larger share of their income on housing than White British counterparts.
White British households are more than twice as likely to own their own home than Black African or Arab adults.
Except for Pakistani adults, tenure, age and region explain at least half of the affordability gap, with tenure by far the most important.
A large part of the housing affordability gap faced by ethnic minorities is unexplained. They also suffer a housing quality gap, as they are more likely to live in overcrowded and substandard housing.
How significant are ethnic inequalities in housing affordability?
While Britain is a more plural country now than ever before, significant ethnic inequalities persist, including in housing affordability.

Goodwin spreading misinformation over on the other place again.
Same old debunked rubbish.
Foreign born & British nationals are presented here as two different groups.
Obviously they are not. I am a foreign born British national. So is Boris Johnson.
But it makes a nice dog whistle.

Labour's eagerness to reduce numbers in the immigration system is dictating priorities. It's illogical to pause people's claims. Stability in Syria is going to take time. Process claims, grant temporary status, let them get on and work out whether they want to return to a different Syria later.

On this day in 1872, Scotland and England played the worldβs first international football match at West of Scotland Cricket Ground in Partick.
The match finished 0-0 and was watched by 4000 people.
The impact of this football match led to the football we consume today.

A total embarrassment. Likewise certain songs about Celtic in the pub the night before.
If singing about the IRA is how you want to spend your time in a stunning Belgian city, god help you.

βFor far too long, weβve been suffering the effects of failed, unjust economic policies that leave too many people on low wages, inadequate incomes, and insecure work. And to make matters worse, the public foundations that we all rely on have been stripped of investment... the next
