It's nice to have the ever-constant background stress of living in America drop a lil. I forgot how good hope feels.

I also just switched to Linux, though I chose Mint. I was a lil worried about it cause I'm not techy at all, but it's worked well for me so far. I've also got a dual-boot setup with windows 11, but I honestly doubt I'll use it. Once I figure out how to install Vintage Story on Linux I'll be golden.

Generative Al is being marketed as a tool designed to reduce or eliminate the need for developed, cognitive skillsets. It uses the work of others to simulate human output, except that it lacks grasp of nuance, contains grievous errors, and ultimately serves the goal of human beings being neurologically weaker due to the promise of the machine being better equipped than the humans using it would ever exert the effort to be. The people that use generative Al for art have no interest in being an artist; they simply want product to consume and forget about when the next piece of product goes by their eyes. The people that use generative Al to make music have no interest in being a musician; they simply want a machine to make them something to listen to until they get bored and want the machine to make some other disposable slop for them to pass the time with. The people that use generative Al to write things for them have no interest in writing. The people that use generative Al to find factoids have no interest in actual facts. The people that use generative Al to socialize have no interest in actual socialization. In every case, they've handed over the cognitive load of developing a necessary, creative human skillset to a machine that promises to ease the sweat equity cost of struggle. Using generative Al is like asking a machine to lift weights on your behalf and then calling yourself a bodybuilder when it's done with the reps. You build nothing in terms of muscle, you are not stronger, you are not faster, you are not in better shape. You're just deluding yourself while experiencing a slow decline due to self-inflicted atrophy.

A couple weeks ago a cat jumped out in front of my car. I was going 40 mph and had no opportunity to react, all I could do was scream internally. I know it's not my fault, I literally could not brake fast enough, but I still feel so guilty.

I have a feeling you'd like Barotrauma's Husk Infection. It's a cool lil body-altering parasite that basically turns people into aquatic zombies. However, it's possible to reach symbiosis and survive the transformation.
Sadly it's mostly internal changes, though I like to head-cannon it differently.

I'm almost the inverse, given I mostly work weekends.

Yeah, that's pretty true. I eat super sour/spicy things mainly for the personal satisfaction and sense of accomplishment, but it's also fun to see other people's reaction.

I wonder if I'll ever reach "critical moth" and start adding things from other bugs. If so, bioluminescence would be my first pick (I've been considering it for a while). Hell, I already have some stuff that doesn't exactly fit a southern flannel moth, why hold back?

I think it's funny how much fursona has gotten more and more moth-like as time goes on. Originally she was just a woman with moth features, now she's more of a moth with woman features. I think the tipping point was when I fully decided on compound eyes. Everything else just felt natural after that.

Furries are the internet's canaries, when we're gone that place is toxic.

Vintage Story. It's straight up the best survival game I've ever played. Everything has so much depth to it and it feels so satisfying to progress. Also there is no greater peace than the safety of a warm fire.
