Local governments across New York have signed fourteen(!!) 287g mass deportation agreements with ICE that involve this “training”, with others pending. In Nassau County - where Santos died, the 287g agreement has led to THREE THOUSAND DEPORTATIONS.

How can you give “free range” for local police and sheriffs to receive “training” from ICE on “Multicultural communication” and “Avoiding racial profiling” (!!!) when ICE has created chaos and violence across the U.S.-especially towards Black and brown folks?

Giving “free range” for local police and sheriffs to collude with ICE to abduct our neighbors led to the tragic death of Santos Banegas, a father of two, in Nassau County last year. Santos died in Nassau County jail as a direct result of the county’s involvement in the 287g mass deportation program.

Rather than prohibit local cooperation with ICE, Hochul targets state grants to curb it Gov. Kathy Hochul created some confusion when she declared state resources would no longer go towards civil ICE raids, since state agencies already can’t work with immigration officials.

Hey @governor.ny.gov: just last week, you acknowledged ICE agents are "terrorizing people," but your proposal still allows local agencies in New York “free range” to help ICE terrorize our communities.

We urgently need real action. This ain’t it.

We're in Albany today-on the first day of session, with partners and community members to call on the legislature to prioritize passing the New York for All Act.

State leaders can't simply wait around while ICE terrorizes our immigrant neighbors and loved ones. Enough is enough. Pass #NY4All NOW.
