The rough sketch for Galaxy's Absolute Universe outfit, with a faded colour guide so as not to distract from the sketch and lines. Her usual fabric pallet of pink and white has been shifted to pink and black, with the white now becoming her major accent colour with hints of gold trim. Taylor has had no exposure to the human world while growing up in this AU - what once were Docs are now Ceremonial boots, and what was once an outfit that could be stored easily in a closet and resembling the heroes of the day is now clearly that of royalty on a mission. This outfit is based on the appearance of Taylor and Vulpecula in Hawkgirl Once Upon a Galaxy, featuring an interpretation of how she'd wear jewellery and embellishments as an exiled princess fighting for her planet. This is the only time (so far at least) that we've gotten a good view of Cyandii's cultural garb and environment in a less stylized manner, so I wanted to incorporate both of these aspects to really drive home that this story would take place ON Cyandii. While not featured in the sketch, the gold trim would be styled to resemble the vine-like architecture found in the halls that we see Taylor running through. Subconsciously it seems I've borrowed from the Priestess designs found in Shadows of Valentia - I only realised this while typing this up! But in a weird way I suppose that fits with Taylor's noble journey through the stars that I have imagined in my silly little noggin.

Closeup of Taylor with no sketchwork. She is distressed, and her hair is notably shorter than her other incarnations. Unlike the unfinished lineart, this is intentional. Taylor has been living as a revered figure for much longer than in the Original Universe, prim and proper as she can bring herself to be, and now has to throw it all away in order to save the planet. My concept for the Absolute Universe's take on Galaxy would follow in the footsteps of the other members. As opposed to escaping to earth to save herself from the brutal regime of the Vane, Taylor is instead Exiled from the Palace with a target on her head as a direct result of the Vane having taken over from the inside with the help of Cyandii's more cruel people in power. Initially I had plotted to draw a simple comic cover for a Galaxy sequel story with one of these villanous Cyandii designs - this would have been based on the many concept art pieces produced in the making of Taylor's final design - But I figured adapting it to the Absolute Universe would be a bit more contemporary and in the moment!

reread Galaxy the Prettiest Star right as I got fully into the Absolute Universe and it made me wonder - what would an Absolute AU version of Galaxy be like?? Not sure when I'll be able to complete this as I'm busy with comms at the moment so I wanted to put my progress here! Details in Alt text~
