Manufactured outrage about an issue which barely impacts anyone, all to entice a perceived demographic of voters who will never shift from Farage to Labour.
I canβt wait to see this version of Labour eradicated, they are making a good job of it on their own.
Iβm still looking for the bit about carpenters Niallβ¦

50 appearances is some achievement
Boxing commentators on the radio, I suspect thatβs a dead profession but by God they had an incredible talent and you could visualise every movement (and every glove that laid him down or cut him til he cried out in his anger and his shame)
16.11.2025 04:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I can still mind the buzz around school ahead of the Hagler v Hearns fight, and it didnβt disappoint.
Of course before Murdoch PPV rip off ,you had to wait for the council telly highlights.
Most of McGuiganβs fights involved the family gathering around the wireless using our imagination
A golden era Frank. And there was also McGuigan, Eubank snr Vs Collins, the incredible Holyfield vs Bowe fight in 93β¦
But the names youβve listed were all amazing to watch
I was lucky enough to be spoilt with the most amazing pugilists in the 80βs and 90βs. The list of talent is huge. Thereβs been little since then to attract much interest.
Tonight was a manufactured feud around two fighters which has been marketed around their daβs!! Dreadful
Barney just pointed at the clock and wouldnβt let us in to safety until 8:30 or whatever was his remit.
Later that day we watched from the classroom window as a USPCA van arrived, and the dog was shot in full view of the children.
On a final note, Liam Neesonβs da Barney was our primary school caretaker, and his ma Kitty was a dinner lady in the canteen.
My abiding memory of Barney was that there was a rabid foaming at the mouth Doberman rampant in the playground one morning. We were terrified and banging on the door.
The wonderful Mark Cousins, of the same era, used to dish out the gruel at our canteen table in 1982. He always insisted that he would be a movie director.
Got in touch with him recently and he has a godson here in Cheshire,
Bruce, many thanks because I always wanted to believe that Tom Paulin was a great lad, behind his ludicrous demeanour.

Itβs ruined the whole thing for me, and no doubt for Lee, and possibly Neil Morrisey
Hark at me not knowing if Iβm Melvyn Bragg, Stuart Maconie, Paul Morley or Tom Paulin!
And not just an eejit from Ballymena!
I think that life is better for that fact
15.11.2025 22:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm maybe wrong Bruce, but I think we remember cultural moments through the lens of when we were first exposed to them. A movie or a record or a book carry with them all the sights, sounds and smells at the point we first consumed them, so that will be wildly different for folk
15.11.2025 22:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In some places amongst a certain demographic, Iβm sure it must have been.
I was likely in a very different place at that time, and very different immediate circumstances.
Everyone loved a Western or a Gangster movie, but sallow youths on mopeds at the time felt like a trivial world away.
It was Bruce, I can remember some of the reviews at the time which mostly rated it as dreadful.
