NI education: Teacher uses conscience clause to withdraw from RE teaching Javed Love is understood to be the first teacher in Northern Ireland in at least a decade to take the action.

Today we are very proud of our own @javedlove.bsky.social , who has exercised his legal right to withdraw from teaching RE and Collective Worship.

Javed is the first teacher in NI to exercise this right for at least 10 years. Find out why he did so below.

A forgotten sceptic: William M. Knox, the one-eyed atheist of Belfast - The Skeptic Writing in the late 1800s, Irish atheist William M. Knox took aim at the emerging trend of spiritualism, séances, and communicating with the dead

I wrote this for The Skeptic about the ever intriguing William M. Knox and his (often hilarious) lambasting of the claims of spiritualists in a pamphlet of 1892. www.skeptic.org.uk/2025/11/a-fo...

Are those ages as of the 2021 census? i.e. do they need ~5 years added on to them now?

There is nothing to be gained by continuing to watch the murder of Alex Pretti or the number of people with power who are justifying the murder - no more to be learnt - those who stand with them, or justify them, stand for fascism - listen to voices of resistance or find time for something beautiful

But with a stated mission to "replace Labour" this feels like too good an opportunity to miss. Sure, if Burnham ended up winning a by-election and then leading Labour, this position helps the Greens later down the line, but I don't think they can really turn down an opportunity this big.

Greens FTW in my opinion. Burnham or no Burnham.

The genre stretches back quite a bit before the Sims (which I agree is excellent by the way). There were various Sim Cities, Sim Ant was quite big and fun, I had Sim Earth which was ok but a bit contrived. Then the whole Civilisation franchise.

Do you mean Sim City? That was the original Sims as far as I'm concerned.
