Another take on the Pleiades. Same light that I captured a few nights ago. But uncropped and with less contrast. So many ways to process the same imageโฆ I think I prefer this.
01.02.2025 23:00 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The Pleiades last night. Visible to the naked eye as a little shimmering collection of stars. But thereโs more to see with binoculars or a telescope, including the light from these hot blue stars reflecting off neighbouring gas and looking like luminous clouds. Lovely innit?
29.01.2025 23:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Jellyfish nebula tonight (the red dumpling towards the bottom right.) Almost certainly a star that exploded at the end of its life. The clouds sneaked in so I got less than two hours. Will have another go when itโs clear again.

Thousands of Syrian soldiers fled to #Iraq while HTS were defeating Assad.
3,000 of them are said to be detained there - & are likely to be sent back.
But still no news
of the whereabouts
of Bashar al-Assad's
violent & extremely dangerous brother Maher.

North America Nebula looking better I think. Added some more exposure time to last weekโs capture. Was more ruthless with spurious background colour (outer space is not green). All very subjective but I like this one better.
22.11.2024 23:54 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I started it. But after the initial rescue errand, I felt completely lost. Any tips to get me past the initial learning curve?

Finally a clearish night! First in a month. 2 hours on the Seagull Nebula. Nope. I can't see a seagull either. But that might be my strange framing - I hadn't quite realised how huge this object is.
26.02.2024 23:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Got a couple of hours on the Tadpoles Nebula last night. Iโll admit I CAN see how this one got its name. Though I think I can also see the Balrog from Lord of the Rings. Fly you fools.
18.01.2024 14:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Clear skies last night so I had another go at the California Nebula. Made the shot a little wider this time and captured it for longer - so more detail. I see tree trunk more than California.
16.01.2024 11:53 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Last nightโs effort. Cone Nebula and Christmas Tree Cluster. Again. โChristmas Treeโ? Maybe if it was the other way up? Even soโฆ I would like to know what hallucinogenics these astronomers are usingโฆ

11.01.2024 13:15 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Monkey Head Nebula tonight. Looks better this way up, I reckon - but doesnโt look like its name. To see the monkey, I think you would turn it nearly 90ยฐ clockwise (or your head anti-clockwise)? And use a LOT of imagination: I canโt see it ๐
10.01.2024 00:38 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The cloudy forecast for last night was wrong. Well for a few hours anyway. Hurrah. The David Soul Nebula. (Iโll remember him especially for โSalemโs Lot.)

06.01.2024 23:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I found Mastodon unintuitive too. Pretty much abandoned it. Threads works well. And itโs early days for Bluesky. But I like what I see. You are my only follower so far! But what an illustrious first follower to have :-)
06.01.2024 13:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0As the Sun sets, half the sky is cloudy and the other half is clear. It could go either way. My telescope has its fingers crossed.
