Oh - and I forgot to mention - I have to use a very fluoridated toothpaste to keep my implant from getting infected. It could spread into my jawbone if it did.

And that same nut job is trying to ban fluoride in drinking water. For some reason.

And now we have a complete nut job in charge of our health services who says the same thing. That it’s not medically necessary for me to avoid COVID, that I should just get my teeth pulled, bring my inhaler everywhere, lose the ability to eat entire food groups, and suck it up. No thanks.

The only fix for the root resorption I have is a full tooth removal, dental implant, and prosthetic crown. My dental insurance says this is not medically necessary; that I should just have the tooth pulled and go on with my life.

If I were to do that, my jawbone would degrade.

I finally felt on top of everything after figuring that out. Well, I was pissed that I would never have good bread again, but it beat being too sick to function.

Then my teeth started breaking down inside my mouth. $5000 out of pocket for one tooth and now I have to get a second one done next year.

The second infection was mild, but after it cleared, my stomach started rejecting everything. My doctor tested me for C. diff and celiac because it was so severe and sudden onset. After weeks of testing we found I had developed a gluten sensitivity so severe it mimicked celiac symptoms.

The reason I got COVID the first time was because I was late on my booster and had just had major surgery. I had weekly asthma attacks for YEARS and struggled with recurrent sinus infections afterwards.

The second time I caught it from a relative in a nursing home.

If they ban the COVID vaccine y’all will never see me outside again. After 2 COVID infections I lost 2 teeth to root resorption and developed a severe food sensitivity that wrecked my life for months. But sure, let’s worry about an inert form of aluminum more. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sometimes I make the bad decision of scrolling through national news headlines while working at my desk. Sometimes there are tears. I don’t think it makes me a weak person to admit that this constant onslaught of horror makes me cry.

He says the immigration situation breaks his heart. That we came so close in 2013 but the speaker refused to bring it up and abused his power in doing so. Foster says the whole US public would have benefited from it, that it would have marked a return to the rule of law.

Foster begins his closing remarks. He says he has stood with us on many protest lines, that these things matter, that we need to take part in our democracy.

He thinks back to his first political debate ever, right on this stage at Aurora U. He says that was when he learned this system could work.

He brings up his wife, who is Korean, and how in Korea the president declared martial law. That the Korean public gathered to shame and protest the decision.

He says that there was never a guarantee the US experiment would work. But that it’s a good question to ask, and don’t stop asking it.

Final question: since January 20th, there are rumblings about Trump declaring martial law to delay the midterms. What assurances can you give us?

Foster says the American public will be the backstop for this. He says martial law requires certain circumstances - and losing an election doesn’t count.

Foster says that this is something we can use to bridge the gap with Republican voters - especially in rural areas.

Foster says that farmers are going to suffer because of this. He says that the weather service’s work is incredible, that privatizing it is a false cost saving.

Foster says we are not allowed many “clean votes” on funding Israel. That when he first entered Congress, there was an open rule where congresspeople could change bits and pieces of the bill via amendments, that it no longer happens under the Republicans.

He says that the government should help people as they are drowning in high interest rate debts.

Foster says that he paid $2500/year for college when he went, including dorms. That we taxed the rich to pay for education and trade school post-WWII to build the working class. He says in the 1980s we instead decided to give tax breaks to billionaires, and that this should have never happened.

Foster says that, for the record, he does talk about Israel’s nuclear program. That it was unacceptable when a member of Netanyahu’s cabinet threatened Palestine with a nuclear attack.
