Politicians have no business dictating what our kids can read or learn. We must protect intellectual freedom and trust our teachers and librarians to do their jobs without fear of partisan micromanagement.

Our state is facing a teacher shortage because of low pay and constant political attacks. We will fight to raise teacher salaries and create retention programs that finally treat our educators like the professionals they are.

Our public schools are being starved while Republicans refuse to protect our teachers and their students. We must increase state aid to finally match inflation and give our kids the fully-funded schools they deserve.

Some politicians want to drag us backward by stripping away our rights. We need to send a clear message: Iowa will move forward as a state that champions civil rights and protects all its people, without exception.

Iowa was built by those seeking a better life, and that legacy must continue. Let's reject the politics of hate and support the local programs that welcome asylum seekers and help them build new lives in our communities.

Family caregivers are the invisible backbone of our healthcare system, and they're getting burned out with no support. I'll fight to create a caregiver support credit, because it's time Iowa had their backs.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ Republican Federal funding cuts are hitting Iowa hard. Vital medical research at the University of Iowa has been canceled, stopping development of new treatments for Alzheimer's and aggressive cancers. This also kills a program supporting rural hospitals. This is a POLICY FAILURE.

It’s time for our Republican leaders to prioritize unity and de-escalation over rhetoric that fuels anger and division. Let’s demand that our representatives focus on solutions that bring us together, not tear us apart.

Agreed; it's frustrating to see them ride off into the sunset after causing so much harm. The good news is we can get someone better who doesn't accept their constituents' preventable deaths as normal next year.

End of her term; she's serving out the rest of her current term until it ends in Jan 2027.

She hasn't announced anything else she's running for, so it appears for now at least that she's stepping away from the public eye. That could always change going forward though 🤷

We should never forget that she posted a fake apology video on a cemetery, gaslit her constituents, and voted to confirm someone accused of sexual assault as DoD secretary. Never again, Iowa. We deserve better and we can make it happen next November.

Joni Ernst, like so many of her colleagues, is unwilling to solve the actual problems that face the American people. She oversaw horrific declines in her constituents' health, education, and access to resources they desperately needed. Good riddance; the state of Iowa will be better off without her.

We are supposed to be preparing our kids for a complex world. How can we do that if we're teaching them to be afraid of different cultures, people, and ideas by banning books whose viewpoints we disagree with?

Let's be clear: book bans are a direct attack on our educators. We trust them to teach our kids math and science, but politicians want you to believe they can't be trusted to recommend a book. This disrespect is driving great teachers out of the profession, and our kids are paying the price.

The goal of education isn't to create compliant citizens who all think the same thing. It's to teach kids how to think critically for themselves. Banning books that present different viewpoints teaches one dangerous lesson: fear ideas you don't understand. A library is a gym, not a padded cell.

Politicians are trying to score political points by banning books and intimidating our teachers and librarians. This isn't about protecting kids; it's about controlling what they think. I trust Iowans to think for themselves, and I will always fight for the freedom to read, learn, and question.

We can have the peace of mind of accessible, safe, quality healthcare and education, tax and election reform, and freedom from systemic injustice. It’s still no utopia, but it’s what other nations already have. We just have to work and fight for this together, for each other. See you at the rally. 🤝

A promise was made to the teachers, firefighters, and public servants who dedicate their lives to our state. IPERS is that promise, and I will fight tooth and nail against any politician who tries to break it.
