I don't think it's our fault - it must be something about how we've evolved to process language (and to reflexively associate it with cognition).

We may not be biologically equipped to properly assess/interact with an entity that's very good at language, but totally devoid of thinking ability. 🤓

Generative AIs are just probabilistic text engines - sorta like autocorrect on steroids. I wouldn't trust my autocorrect with anything that mattered. No offense intended, I am just really freaked out by how quickly people are putting their trust in these things! 😨

It's not doing anything you can't do much better! Generative AI models are wrong about facts a very high % of the time because they have no thinking or reasoning abilities. Even OpenAI's own research shows this (attached).
