Our new report published today on high streets and health inequalities to map the changes over time in 16 amenities across all of England's high streets - areas which already suffer from a high burden of ill health also face a decline in the quality of their high streets. #gischat #geosky #episky

This is one of my favourite reads on accessibility inequalities for many reasons, but mainly:
1) focus on vulnerable communities.
2) different people will find places accessible depending on their own needs/interests.
3) super neat and fun to play with app!

Congrats 🥳!!!

The 2024 Valencia floods hit close to home for me. By analysing real-time digital trace data, we can track population shifts and guide timely disaster response efforts. Check out the analysis I’ve been working on with @Fcorowe & @MiguelGLeonardo: shorturl.at/2VX4C

Thoughts on moving from Twitter/X to BlueSky - Welcome Some quick thoughts on moving from Twitter/X to BlueSky and how I'll try to use social media after being burned once by Twitter.

I'm going to try using BlueSky more reliably for a while. Here are a few thoughts that are guiding my engagement here, and hopefully learning from our collective experience over at Twitter.

The United States of Abortion Mazes To illustrate how difficult it is to get abortion care in the United States, we built a maze for each state where the difficulty is calculated by the state’s abortion policies.

Wow, this is a genius idea for presenting a sobering story. I started the Texas maze and gave up. That's the point, I guess... pudding.cool/2024/10/abor...

Some cool results: We have generated a metric to measure connectivity between neighbourhoods and job places in The Netherlands. We combine commuting flows and travel times to generate an entropy metric to assess how diverse these flows are. We end up with an urban hierarchy that matches pop trends 👇

Our work looks at how multi-level factors affect people's mobility behaviours. We consider factors at individual, household, neighbourhood, and regional level, and build a model that estimates the likelihood of an individual behaving in a certain way given those factors. Check out our poster 👇👇👇👇
