I don't think Democrats want power. They want to run social programs and help people. Good goals! But power is different. Democrats fear that it will dirty them, and it will, but sinking into authoritarianism is feculent. It takes courage to choose to get dirty rather than live in filth.

Once again, I’m wondering why Democrats aren’t running with a straightforward message of “despotism is un-American and unaffordable” right now and all the way into the midterms.
