Changing how we elect leaders does not stop corruption. Reforms, transparency and com- mitment to the integrity of our union roots out corruption. Over 11 million union mem- bers elect their national leadership via a delegate system for good reason: it's democratic and protects unions from the influence of dark money. irect election of national leader- ship opens the door to a new kind of danger:

β€’ Fewer members willdetermine the_outcome: the Teamsters (1BT) have had direct election of leaders since 1996 and have seen a significant drop off in member voting: from 34% in 1996 to 13% today. In contrast, under the current UAW delegate system, most locals send delegates to the Constitutional convention.

It's hilarious how many DSA members when I advocate for one member one vote unironically parrot the same uaw admin caucus anti-democracy propaganda. They say this stuff as though I haven't lived the experience of a class conflict org radically transforming from member participation.

I’m politically homeless. Like so many Americans, I am furious that the president cut $50 billion in subsidies to my exploding rocket and child murdering car business. Like other Americans who have 60 kids with 57 different mothers, all boys with hieroglyphics for names, I am being left behind.

Every WWIII fear was the nervous grappling of a public opposed to the war trying to imagine consequences for themselves.

Instead we have the grim reality that Presidents can bomb as they like abroad with no consequence so long as the country targeted lacks nukes & majority in Congress allow it.

Imagine being Hasret Icsen. You pay $1,015/month for a 3-bedroom apartment in a green, mixed-income building full of amenities. When you touch your home, you're touching climate progress.

This is Vienna's green social housing. As @NPR explains, we could do it here

Manhattan buses have for decades been among the slowest in the nation. But speed gains from congestion pricing have made riding on those routes desirable again.

The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 800,000+ federal and D.C. workers (i.e. people directly impacted by a government shutdown), is urging senators to vote no on the House GOP's CR.

In other words, AFGE is saying a government shutdown is less bad than this GOP bill.

Earlier today the LA Times had AI-generated counterpoints to a column from @gustavoarellano.bsky.social. His piece argued that Anaheim, the city he grew up in, should not forget its KKK past.

The AI "well, actually"-ed the KKK. It has since been taken off the piece.
