As the daughter of lawyers, my spidey senses were tingling very early on, and my suspicions were confirmed by how they handled completely reasonable questions from an author reviewing an offer.

I asked for what sales levels they had achieved, and for clarity on the advance and term. They confirmed an advance for the entire series that was unacceptably low and for a too-long term, then withdraw the offer.

Since their offer included a royalty breakdown for sales of over 25K copies, I asked which of their books had achieved those numbers. The answer? None.

After providing my full manuscript and an author questionnaire, I received an offer from an indie publisher. I responded with clarifying questions about the publisher and the offer. Though they answered my questions, they also seemed offended I asked and withdrew the offer. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I just wanted to share that I hit 1500 ratings across all of my books. 🤩🤩 I’m thankful for everyone who has read my stories. #representationmatters #loveatanysize
