Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

I read a lot of arguments (for AND against) LLMs, and both sides seem to think there’s a consciousness or intentionality or even a moral alignment

If you want an "NPC" that responds to anything you say, then I suggest you go outside and talk to people.

In Skyrim, every NPC has like 3 conversations and now the entire town of Whiterun is permanently ingrained in my brain. If all of those characters were GenAI, I'd remember none of them.

Remember when Spider-Man 2 for PS5 came out and people realized the NPCs on the street all had dialogue with each other that you could eavesdrop on and then players in. A. SPIDER-MAN. Game. Took time out of swinging above the city just to follow people around on the street and listen to them? 🤔

If I was a New Yorker and I had to vote between Sliwa and Cuomo, even though I despise the Republican Party and don't think Sliwa is really what NYC needs right now, I would still vote Sliwa over Cuomo any day.

Sliwa is completely insane and his weird vigilante group is questionable at best, but at least he still feels like a human being with a soul and some basic decency, and he clearly cares about the people of NYC.

Some close friends of his are in the show and he's talked about One Piece before (granted he specifically said he wasn't very familiar with it), so I'm sure he'll be watching.

He's likely well aware of Iñaki as well, since he seems to keep an eye on up and coming actors.

I hate the American government and I hate stuff like the idea of American exceptionalism.

I do not hate America itself so please stop trying to invalidate what I say by saying "you just hate America".

I should clarify that I am far from an expert on this, so if I got something wrong or missed something, I apologize.

They've literally put transphobic people into the game before. Like you can play as real life transphobic people in the game.

If the film is preserved well, then they can go back in and use modern techniques to get things like 4K. If the original film is damaged it can warp color, cause blurriness, or other issues. If the original film is lost, they likely need to take from much lower quality tapes for rereleases.

In some cases it's the movie itself, like the set and how it's lit, that impacts it. With lower budget movies they tended to use less sophisticated cameras and lenses as well.

The biggest thing I think is how well preserved the film reel is.
