A water color & pen sketch of a caterpillar making its way to a small cluster of blossoms at the end of a branch. The colors are muted and washed out, with the cooler greens of the caterpillar’s stripes showing in contrast against the warmer neutral tan of the background and the dried looking branch and flowers.

A bright yellow cement rowhouse in Astoria flying a blue flag with a red outline that says TRUMP OR COMMUNISM, one word on each row, with TRUMP largest in white letters. Behind are blue, gray, and pink two-story homes with siding and white trims. The sky above is cloudless, cut only by a couple of overhead wires. The image is actually mirrored so that the flag can be read, because of the way the wind is blowing.)

More from ALA Pres. Cindy Hohl: "By cutting off federal support from libraries, the Trump administration is cutting off opportunity for the American people – economically, culturally, professionally and socially."

not to defend the robber barons but Andrew Carnegie, the richest man of his era, gave away 90 percent of his wealth and funded the building of 2,811 libraries, and I’m afraid the current crop of oligarchs isn’t sending their best.

🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

ANYWAY, did you know there's an extension you can put on Chrome that will connect with your local library system and when you go look at a book, say on AMZ, it will tell you if that book exists in the library system and if it's available?

It's literally called Library Extension.

You know where you can go and not worry about breaking the economic blackout today?

Your local library! All those books and you won’t spend a penny!

Arrest a librarian? Georgia Senators to consider bill to remove 'harmful materials' Georgia Senate Bill 74 would remove librarians' protections against a state law about giving 'harmful materials' to minors. Here's what we know.

We've reached "arrest the librarians" level of authoritarianism.

I miss the days when very rich people used their money to fund libraries, public art and philanthropic endeavors rather than launching slow-motion coups against the federal government.
