This is a great application of eDNA methodology - beaked whales are fascinating but mysterious and challenging to study, spending most of their time at great depth. It was a privilege to see them in the beautiful Bahamas!

I'm pleased to have played a small role in this exciting paper - coordinating passive acoustic detection and eDNA to detect Blainsville's beaked whales and expanding our understanding of their diversity by three new haplotypes!
