Don't miss this on Tuesday eve ONLINE - Morag's book is so brilliant and necessary - a vital amendment to so much walking lit - an intersectional feminist history of walking as creative practice, radical act and resistance, with a focus on queer, disabled & working-class lives. #BookSky #WalkingLit
05.02.2026 14:07 โ ๐ 13 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The cover of The Drift of Memory by Dermot Murphy. A dark figure of a woman stands beside a ferry railing and stares out across the sea, the whole image being greenwashed
Dermot Murphyโs The Drift of Memory focuses on Irish female experience. Women staying in Ireland are on journeys; in the diaspora, they carry place with them. Murphyโs poems are vivid & meaningful. Plainly personal, the collection yet reaches towards universality. Recommended @fiftywords.bsky.social

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeareโs Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Cover image of book, Becoming Altar, New and Selected Poems by Kyla Houbolt. Book is turquoise blue with yellow type and white on the spine. Pretty thing!
Smack It was the red lipstick era, the time of skillets and aprons, permed hair, gelid poems wafting sentimentally around the joint, like cigarette smoke. Oh the good old. I rustle in the bottom of a battered purse, maybe there's still a tube of red lipstick in there. All dried out. Still, I paint some on. Lips. What a weird body part. Let's decorate them! Someone once said. So we did.

A minimalist book cover on a white background. At the top, the title โMountebankโ appears in bold black serif lettering, with the author name โTom Snarskyโ printed beneath it in a smaller serif font. Centred on the page is a mirrored black-and-white illustration of two identical theatrical masks facing each other, each held by delicate hands pressing against the maskโs cheeks. The masks have hollow, dark eye sockets and neutral expressions, rendered in fine stippled detail, creating a symmetrical, uncanny effect. Near the bottom of the cover, the publisher name โBroken Sleep Booksโ is printed in small black serif text.
MOUNTEBANK is a book of bells and bodies, of vows made in a kitchen and broken in public, of love that keeps asking for water and coffee and proof. @tomsnarsky.bsky.social

A stark, minimalist book cover with a flat mustard-yellow background. At the top left, the title โThe Dead Are Always Laughing at Usโ appears in large black serif type, set across multiple lines. Beneath the title, in smaller black serif text, are the credits โWords by Dominic Hoeyโ and โDesign by Trudi Hewittโ. The lower portion of the cover is largely empty, emphasising negative space. Near the bottom centre, the publisher name โBroken Sleep Booksโ is printed in small black serif lettering.
The Dead Are Always Laughing at Us is Dominic Hoey at full voltage: funny, tender, furious, and absolutely committed to being understood.
