On a recent visit to France I saw this lectern and thought of you. Lovely thing - solid, presumably copper? In St Malo's cathedral, with heaps of other good stuff. (Twitter folk tell me you're here now.)

I'm back on BlueSky! So here's an odd thing on the left bank of the R. Seine in Rouen.
The pedestrian staircase up to the Pont Guillaume le ConquΓ©rant is adorned with a well executed graffiti showing Rowan Atkinson. Just... why?
Is it a subtle French joke? (We won, Blackadder!)

A little light Googling led me to this (where your UCL walks get a shout-out) and introduced me to the fab-sounding buildinglondon.blog/2021/12/20/2...
As I have friends in Cambridge, I hope to visit and then check out the Raffaelli table in the Fitzwilliam.
Ruth, thanks so much! Lovely name and lovely patterns. Looks prettier than the red Devonian limestones we have a little south from me in Devon.

Hello, Ruth. I hope you can help ID a reddish stone font & pavement in Villefranche de Conflent, S. France. Tim Palmer said you'd moved to BlueSky and you're the best.
Tim thinks limestone, I guess red gneiss, my sister who posted the pic has NO idea. Lots of it in the hills, apparently.
This looks amazing @pavementgeology.bsky.social!
19.03.2025 17:05 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks so much! My sister will be delighted. (I've told her the RHS says it has sticky leaves so hopefully she will report back.)
I must remember to hang out on BlueSky for #WildflowerHour.
I live in Devon and forage it regularly. It's not rare. and hard to mistake for anything dodgy. Very nice too...
14.04.2025 13:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hello Moira! Is #WildflowerID more active on Bluesky these days?
If yes, any chance of an ID for a pesky furrin plant in S France, near Pyrenees? My sis wonders if it's a linaria/toadflax but the leaves seem wrong but there are over 200 varieties of the damn things. Any clues would be appreciated.
Thanks for posting! A favourite flower of my childhood...

Meanwhile, here's a pic of my Gail's cinnamon bun for the apostrophe and bakery fans. Credit to Gail's for their commitment to old-school grammar.
And a few more yellow Snowdrops found during today's outing. A winter delight, and a bit of a Northumbrian speciality... #wildflowerhour #botany

Winter Aconite in a #Northumberland churchyard today.

02.02.2025 18:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Good luck, Canadian friends. π
There's always "Wolford Chapel in Devon, England... The building and land are publicly owned by the Canadian province of Ontario, and flies the Flag of Canada despite being in the English countryside." Wikipedia.
Wonderful place. Maybe a bit small for y'all...
Point taken.
But I have a feather phobia. I had NO idea I might be sharing a plane ride with feathery things that could flap around in flight. Let alone if they get into the cabin on the approach to landing. Or join their friends outside by diving down the toilets and into the jet engine vents...

02.02.2025 17:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Been there.
A long time ago I tried driving up in my little cheap English rubbish car. With three friends, for the first time. Never have I wished I had lighter, slimmer friends more.
Do I also remember lost caravans at the bottom of the valley or was I just hallucinating?
Thanks for this. I'm hoping to visit with friends outside Cambridge this year. π

#BlueSkyArtShow is closed until next Saturday but the calendar is full of opportunities to share art and mingle.
Today is Sunday #Stunday run by Robyn @handcranked.bsky.social. Post something stunning under the tag.
