re: current discourse transparent sky website, very funny i offered myself once to do work on the site, and then proceeded to get access to the codebase (!), and did nothing, bc i was mostly lazy.

ppl want to pour all their earnings into equity or whatever and i just want to live and be happy. i get i was raised extremely well off and all but like. idk. at a certain income level, doesnt it all just end? beyond 90k income is just like, who cares about all the extra, what am i using it for.

i want a cat, some little electronic doodads, a decently well paying job but nothing too much. maybe get a girlboyfriend whatever. i dont want much, i am not extravagant. i want my coffee and a moped and my friends. that is it, that is all i care about.

they mean well and all and want me to financially well off. but i dont care. i want a 900sqft apartment.

my grandparents keep on telling me to invest in the stock market and my grandpa is talking about how he went for the IPO for palantir and like im just rolling into death in my brain. i just dont care. i will never care about stocks, like, holy shit.

ppl gleefully use shit like google drive/photos or whatever as their main way of hosting images, file storage. and thats way more personal than a social media account. idk, central data storage - small or large - is just how consumers best understand things, dunno if theres a way around that.

i think single tenant pds's will exist always but i think the unfortunate reality is that's such a technical hurdle to try and explain to laymen.

"why should i pay a subscription to run my social media account" is something ppl will ask, and not really value the idea of data ownership.

i feel like both at/ap strengths lie wherein you exit the relatively narrow realm of microblogging
