the first mention of #NIXIT and #SCOXIT on the other place was the day after the brexit vote in 2016.

Almost 10 years later, I think we will be using them a lot soon.

quick 🧡

TL;DR: "Vote Leave: Break up the UK Union!" should have been the slogan on the side of the big red brexit bus.

Polanski appears to be the only political leader in england who is reading the room.

An english parliament for england + re-join EU referendum is bang on the money.

reacting to spoiled votes is the worst thing anyone can do.

it's like keeping the TV cameras focussed on the streaker as they run across the football/whatever pitch.

this is hilarious. true, but, also hilarious. to say this out loud in chatham house is priceless!

Home to the "think tanks" that led to brexit in the first place.

it's a done deal. Gibraltar voted remain in 2016 and joins the EU customs union. And the schengen area with Spain.

brits have to go through full EES checks to enter Gibraltar now..including fingerprints.

I remember the "hand of history" speeches from blair at the time and thinking "didn't we cause the problem in the first place?".

People need to realise that it is Brexit - not "fireside republicanism" that has pushed forward Reunification by about 25 years.

brexit has changed the conversation in Northern Ireland. Scotland too, I suspect.

A German broadcaster produced a programme recently digging deeper into how brexit is pushing Ireland & NI closer together and Reunification looks likely.

This clip compares it to German reunification in 1989.

German public broadcaster DW produced a special programme recently focussing on Reunification in Ireland, because of brexit.

A quick 🧡on some of the key questions raised with Professor Brendan O'Leary and a link to the full piece.

the person in the clip explains it so clearly. I fear NI unionists are still in denial about brexit and how it's pushing Ireland together.

Good thread on what's next for Ireland. It looks increasingly unlikely that the current post #brexit model can work and a future hard border on Ireland is basically impossible. All that's left is a unified Ireland.

This is going to tear up the Tories and Reformatory. Oof!

thanks. it's really interesting to see how the Scots, like the Welsh, are leaning towards independence post brexit.

in Ireland, we're looking at NI rejoining Ireland soon. All because of brexit!
