The only step left is to stick together and bind the four remaining sticks with the notch in a X at top and bottom and the lantern 🥰
Offering the lantern in this way makes it a not only easier to transport.

I usually drill a hole somewhat below the middle of the sticks we are going to use to stabilise our lantern in the final steps, cut out the rest and file a bit to achieve the notch in the middle. Two more holes at the end and we are good to go!

Somehow my Dokomi prep-support isn't supporting 😿
Either he is playing with my paper scraps or sleeps under the table. So I guess it's all on me again 🙈

And we continue with lantern crafting! At least for a bit 😊
The next step is to drill holes into the plastic foil in order to prepare it to be tied together in the next step.

I survived #japantag! Thank you so much for everyone who stopped by and appreciated my work ❤️ I will now go into hibernation for a few days and start to finalise my prep for #dokomi right after that 😅

He is a roofer and has right equipment in his workshop to do those tasks in a more efficient way than I could ever do in my little city apartment 😸

Usually the point within the lantern crafting where I start panicking, is when I have to cut a bunch of wood and drill an infinite amount of holes into it with my crappy equipment because this takes FOREVER. But not this time! This time I got lucky and my dad was so kind to help me ❤️

After drying comes gluing! Followed by more drying of course 😅
Each print will be hand glued to a 0,2mm thick transparent foil. This gives it more stability and prevents the paper from being damaged easily. 😊

I've printed a bunch of yokai on extra thin lokta paper for turning them into lanterns in preperation for the upcoming conventions 😊

Not sure if I ever showed this cool feature of my tote bags before but: THEY HAVE POCKETS!
One additional one on the backside that can be closed with a zipper. When I saw this I knew I needed to buy these to print on them 😍
