I have removed that unnecessary check! Cloud saving and loading will now work perfectly even if you have iCloud Drive toggled OFF in your device settings.

Huge thanks to Massimo. His feedback helped me pin down the origin of the problem. 💙

The game was checking if iCloud Drive was toggled ON before initializing cloud saves. However, after diving back into the Apple documentation, I’ve confirmed that iCloud Drive isn't actually required for the way Seashine handles your saved game on the cloud.

iOS jellies, please update your game to the latest version (1.2.6).

I’ve finally tracked down the root cause of the issue where some iOS players couldn't recover their progress after reinstalling the game.

Simply send an e-mail with your Google Play e-mail address to contact@pated.net saying it's you. 🤓

Getting a head start on future updates by retrofitting the new ability system (with the symbionts). It won’t be live in the Refresh & Harmonize update, but the core architecture is ready. 🙂👍

Me writing the description for a species I thought I didn’t have much to say about and somehow ending up writing a book.

Oh, these fish are super light. They must not be the source of the lag. Did you notice anything else during these lags I could use as a clue? What is your score when the lag starts to happen?

How did I miss rough sharks? This is exactly why I need a public wishlist so you all can help me decide what to add to the depths of Seashine and see the current progress.

Their anatomy is incredible! Definitely adding them to the to-do list.

The iOS technical update has been on a staged rollout for a few days and will reach 100% of users on the 19th.

iOS jellies, please let me know if you encounter anything weird after updating. It’s a big change with the Unity game engine upgrade, and I might have missed something.

You can judge a person by the size of their moral circle. Trump, for instance, has the smallest possible moral circle, containing only him. Be the opposite: expand your circle. Include, for example, animals currently raised for food. We shut them out of our consciences. It's time to bring them in.

This coming week’s technical update also tweaks a few things, such as making the Supersense ability the entry-level ability instead of Antidote.

Supersense is much more useful for early players, as it helps them find light sources. More experienced players generally already know where to look.

Multiple views of the new model for the Tarakona, a giant deep-sea animal of the videogame Seashine, inspired by the dragonfish.

I’m really happy with the aesthetics of the new Tarakona. I never had the time to make the previous version look the way I wanted. This update allows me to apply the full style I’ve always envisioned for Seashine.

No textures at all, only vertex colors and well-placed triangles.
