Most of my post are about writing but close to 2 years ago, my mare tore a suspensory ligament & needed surgery. I wasn't able to ride for almost a year. Got to get back on in March 2025.

Up to 15K words in my new rough draft. Things are coming together & I have thread of scenes to follow. I've also finally managed to make some of my world building notes fit into some sensible format instead of the random pile of ideas.

Going to be honest, I haven't done much "writing" lately but I have made huge progress in getting my world building notes cleaned up & organized. Now they make sense & I feel like I can get back to writing my WIP & not second guess myself on some of the details.

Hi! Sorry for the delay answering. Been a lot going on. I originally did the story as part of an NYC Midnight flash/micro fiction challenge. My genre was fairy tale so I decided to a "fractured" version!

Got to review my short story, Gangsta Godmother, which will appear in the upcoming Nefarious anthology from Duskbound Books. (probably in January). Had a few minor edits but otherwise, looking good!

I know I mentioned in another post that I'd lost a friend to breast cancer. She was also part of my review squad -- a group of friends who will look at my rough drafts & beat them with a big stick.

I lost a very close friend to breast cancer yesterday. We're going to miss her terribly. She had a big personality that could fill the room. She was far, far too young to have to leave this world.

Thank you! I made her a little more morally gray. Humans all have shades of gray, mistakes we've made, things we do that maybe aren't on the up and up (even if it is just taking extra napkins from a fast food restaurant). She needed more imperfections to be relatable--and interesting.

Finally feel like I've hit my stride on my WIP. Up to about 7K words now. It started to come together when I made some changes to my main character. Onward and upward!

Generally, I write one thing at a time but I will do things like flash fiction challenges if the timing aligns.
