I don't normally post much about my attacks on here, but my Procreate timelapse videos think these two images represent a cumulative 14 hours of effort....... most of this was very protracted trial-by-error work on Geneviéve that I could probably have avoided with proper referencing, but still

She sits on a stool, has a sheet hung up between two trees behind her, and an artfully placed rose with discarded petals by her feet, suggesting she was in the middle of getting her portrait taken. There's spots of blood on her shirt and trousers, and a big splash of it against the sheet backdrop. Just poking out behind the sheet are two boots, with dried blood spattered next to them.

A mermaid with a long eel-like fin leans on a jetty eating an icecream from a small tub. She's looking with interest at a seagull, which is perched on one of the jetty posts, examining her in return (and perhaps about to make a play for her icecream).

I struggled to get started with attacks on @artfight.net this year, but the 2 pieces I did complete, I got EXTREMELY absorbed in. And I've kept my slightly-over-50% battle ratio! ✌️#sharemyattack2025

it's been my white whale for SO LONG, I have 2 trees I regularly hear them in & have never seen so much as a feather.... Saw a bird which Katie ID'd as a goldcrest fly out of a tree last weekend & used that as a life list sighting, but getting to actually ID one for real with my own eyes was SO COOL

Oh my GOODNESS!!! I haven't seen any owls out in the wild yet, I'm so envious 😍

And that's arguably not even the most exciting local walk this week, given that Monday brought me an addition to the life list in the form of two jays loudly trying to scare a fox away

Completely spur of the moment lunch walk bagged me three grey wagtails (I think they were fledglings), at least four swifts, and A GOLDCREST, CLEARLY ENOUGH TO SEE ITS ACTUAL GOLD CREST

Stiles are definitely a thing in Scotland and Wales! I love them, I had a poorly referenced and questionably accurate stile in my comic Wellheart from a few years back (pictured)

Went out and saw a play today and dang, thinking about stagecraft always scratches the same place in my brain that thinking about comics does

You know how there is this repeated phenomenon of very left wing, working class politicians sending their kids to posh schools where the kids grow up to be wildly conservative? It feels like the Labour Party is this phenomenon writ large, and I don't see how it can possibly be redeemed at this point

I wrote to my Scottish MP about this yesterday because it significantly, materially affects pregnant Scots as well - not just in terms of the precedent for changes in Scottish law but also in terms of Scots already having to travel to England for abortions:

Anyway, if you actually care about safe abortions, please write to your MP to ask them to support NC20, which fully decriminalises abortion in England and Wales not just for the pregnant person (NC1), but for the practitioners and the pregnant person's friends and family:

Not to be unkind, but I am so impatient about the “what’s the point of making my little zines/comics/crafts/art when the world is on fire” sentiments. I get it, but saving the world is not a responsibility shouldered by your art! That’s what being a neighbor, a friend, and hell, a citizen is for!!!

making comics is not about drawing everything perfectly. its about drawing things somewhat and psychologically tricking your readers to fill in the blanks for you so you have to do less work
